A DAM to showcase the Sammode industry

A French supplier and manufacturer of lighting solutions since 1927, Sammode has been committed to sustainable and responsible lighting since its inception. With a mission to meet the specific lighting requirements of the industrial and architectural sectors, Sammode chose Ephoto Dam to centralise and structure all of its media, which are essential tools for promoting and ensuring the consistency of its product offering.

When image becomes essential

Today, the image occupies a predominant place, particularly in the fields of architecture and design for Sammode. Carefully crafted, inspiring product visuals that highlight completed projects are a key tool for expressing and demonstrating expertise.

Pierre-Adrien Mongin, Digital Communication Project Manager, discusses the organisation's various needs and the necessity of deploying a DAM solution capable of managing the audiovisual heritage of a company with nearly 100 years of history.

Towards a Digital Asset Management solution

For Sammode, the richness and quality of its visual content was fully recognised, but it lacked the appropriate organisation to structure, store, access and share it effectively. Issues related to asset accessibility, rights management and distribution to external partners gradually became a real strategic challenge.

The centralisation of assets thus became a key issue, as needs rapidly multiplied, particularly for:

  • Ensure content is provided to several websites in close coordination with the DAM and PIM for their showcase website, their ‘Sammode Studio’ e-shop and their distributors' websites .
  • Communicate on their social media and in the press to highlight their many projects.
  • Provide new images for the various product presentation brochures.

Indeed, media centralisation is one of the main criteria for adopting a DAM. For our clients, this then opens the door to streamlined and controlled distribution from a single media source.

The DAM, a gateway between your product data and your sales channels

After searching for a DAM solution, Sammode's communications department chose Ephoto Dam for its flexibility and ability to support the challenges faced by an industrial player.

The project was a big one: a complex tree structure to set up, with thousands of product references and specific use cases, without prior indexing. It was also necessary to clearly distinguish between industrial lighting and architectural lighting, which do not meet the same needs, are not aimed at the same targets and are marketed using very different approaches.

After establishing a documentation language with our team and taking all technical elements into account, Ephoto Dam was integrated by connecting our API to Sammode' s various websites . Our solution also connected with their internally developed PIM tool to populate product sheets and technical data sheets with images .

The benefits?

  • Assets are stored in a single location and automatically distributed across websites.
  • Easy to upgrade without adding more tools.
  • Less back-and-forth for the departments concerned, which improves their productivity.

Ephoto Dam therefore enables organisations to make the most of the tools already available within their information system.

An audiovisual heritage accessible to all, the indexing of which remains a major challenge, requiring considerable time and effort.

A Front Office that promotes products

The Front Office has also been deployed for internal teams (sales, marketing, etc.), providing efficient and seamless access to assets with a well-structured tree view.

“The Front Office is a good solution for sharing media, with a user-friendly interface.”

Rights management is simple: it is possible to restrict downloads, place orders for selected media, find out who is requesting access, and marketing teams can approve or reject orders.

A tool that is widely used internally and which we aim to make available to external partners in the future.

For our customers, the Front Office is a genuine user journey proposition that can be targeted at very specific audiences outside the Back Office. With these numerous developments being rolled out on an ongoing basis, the Front Office is seeing its audience grow steadily, from external users to occasional contributors.

Sammode integrated into the DAMIA Lab project

As mentioned above, indexing remains a challenge for many DAM managers.

In this context, Sammode has always shown interest in participating in Einden's project to improve the solution. When we presented the DAMIA Lab project, our joint R&D laboratory for indexing and artificial intelligence search, Sammode responded by making its digital asset base available.

“Contributing to a better tool.”

This is an opportunity to advance indexing and AI within DAM, features that Sammode has been eagerly awaiting and which will be launched in 2026.

Ephoto Dam is evolving thanks to feedback from our customers and their willingness to participate in improving our solution. Our experts remain attentive to their needs in order to provide long-term support for their requirements and developments. It is with this in mind that we are working alongside them to build the best possible tool with sincerity and a focus on service.
